Byron and I met on October 4th, 2019, at my mother’s 60th birthday party in Cleveland. At that time in my life, meeting someone was not on my priority list at all. In fact, it was the absolute farthest thing from my mind. I had no desire to pursue a relationship — I was there for one reason only: to celebrate and take care of my mother on her special day.

That evening was filled with love, laughter, music, and family. We all danced with my mom, gathered around her, and enjoyed celebrating such a beautiful milestone in her life. As the night continued, the DJ announced that it was time for everyone to line up for dinner. A good friend, Mr. Willie, came over and asked if I would make his brother a plate. I kindly smiled and said, “Sure.”

When I walked over, I introduced myself and asked, “Hello, what would you like? Oh, and what’s your name?” He looked at me with a smile and replied, “Byron.”

I laughed and said, “Okay Byron, what would you like?”

His response?

“Everything!” LOL

From that moment on, something clicked between us. What started as a simple conversation over a dinner plate quickly turned into hours of talking, laughing, and getting to know one another little by little. The connection felt natural, easy, and unexpected. Neither of us knew then that one small moment would turn into something so life-changing.

Before the night ended, Byron asked for my number, and the rest became history.

From that day forward, we became inseparable. Through life’s highs and lows, we discovered that God — and the universe — had placed us in the same room at exactly the right time, when we both needed each other the most. What neither of us was searching for became one of the greatest blessings of our lives.

Five years later, in January 2025, Byron asked me to marry him, and with a full heart, I said yes.

Now, with love, gratitude, and excitement, we look forward to beginning our forever together as husband and wife on August 15th, 2026 — our wedding day.
